PROGRAMS AND SERVICES OFFERED BY ISET

JOB CREATION PARTNERSHIP
To provide unemployed workers who are currently on an active EI claim the ability to maintain and develop skills to enter or re-enter the labour market and at the same time encouraging community development. 

Self Employment Assistance
Unemployed individuals who want to start their own business and to become self-employed may qualify for assistance while starting their business during the preliminary start up phase (3 months).

ADDITIONAL SERVICES OFFERED
Resume Building-Our employment counsellors will work with you to create or re-create an effective resume that represents you well.

Cover Letters
Our employment counsellors will work with you to create an effective cover letter to the job you are applying for.

Career Search
Meet and discuss potential employment options and career goals.

Employment Counselling
Our employment counsellors will work with you to identify and improve employment complications that will get you on track to be the best employee

Resource Room
Access to computers, printing, and faxing to complete resumes, cover letters, assignments, job searches, etc. 

Job Board
View hiring jobs within the community, surrounding areas and out of town employment.

Employment and Training Facebook Page: GRFN Employment & Skills Development is utilized for sharing employment opportunities and training in the region and local area.

EMPLOYMENT – RELATED AND CAREER DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE AND OUTREACH
First Nation members, including youth and people with disabilities (e.g., client assessment, case management, job search, job retention assistance, summer jobs, work experience, and other supports, compatible with the objectives of FNLMS).

Job Ops / Targeted Wage Subsidy
Unemployed individuals facing employment barriers may be provided with training and work experience with qualified employers/ trainers to gain valuable knowledge and skills necessary to enter the labour force.

Skills Enhancement And Pre-Apprenticeship / Apprenticeship
Unemployed/underemployed persons who require assistance to overcome existing or anticipated labour market barriers may qualify for training courses with qualified trainers.

Employment Supports / Start Up
Participants with confirmed offer of full-time employment for 6 months or longer may be provided with assistance to begin full-time employment on a case-by-case basis.

Mobility Assistance
Participants who have obtained full-time employment (6 months or longer) and who are relocating a minimum of 100 km may qualify for relocation assistance.

Youth Work Experience Program
Garden River First Nation youth between the ages of (15 -30) will gain work experience which will lead to ongoing career exploration, employment, and training.

First Nation Innuit Youth Employment Strategy (FNIYES)

The First Nation Innuit Youth Employment Strategy provides First Nations and Inuit youth with work experience, information about career options and opportunities to develop skills to help gain employment and develop careers. The goal is to provide youth with a variety of career options and assists youth in gaining skills by providing wage subsidies for mentored work experience or for mentored school-based work and study opportunities.
